Just a Reminder!
Hey guys, just a reminder to bring all your files to class this evening. We are going to be reviewing first, I'll show inspiration, and then will have the rest of class time to work individually on projects. (I know you need the precious time to work!)

Rough Cut
Hey guys! I posted my rough cut animatic on Vimeo. Sorry for the wait. I shaded most of the media to give it a more drawn look.. I like it better than the original photo take. I know the plant isn't moving, but I'm working on it :)
Please give me some feedback if you feel the need.
Devin.

Untitled from Bronston Keliipuleole on Vimeo.
Here is a reboot of my name template project. I tried using mograph options to do a morph from the cube to my name, but the computer at the school wouldn't render it, and it wouldn't let me preview. It just froze everytime i tried to do any type of mograph that involve a polygon that i created, it was pretty lame.

For Devin: Trampoline Tutorial
This one's for Devin:
http://www.base80.com/index.php/2006/01/23/trampoline_tut1
This took me about 25 minutes to throw together and render. I think we were over-thinking it in class. I have the actual .c4d file, but BlogSpot won't accept attachments, so go to:
https://public.me.com/onceuponastage
In the "Ai" folder should be a file labeled: "TrampNball.c4d" Just download it and open and you'll be able to copy all of the objects and attributes to your project.
Hope this helps.

Short product ad
Smirnoff video advertisement from Bronston Keliipuleole on Vimeo.
This doesn't relate to any of the class assignments. But I have been looking for ways to take what I am learning in this class and applying them to my other classes that deal with the DFV major. I animated the title shot for this short 24 second commercial and did some editing and sound design on it as well. Nothing is taken from any of the smirnoff ads previously done. I designed the path for the logo in illustrator and exported it into c4d. I then made a flag from a plain and animated it with wind. I then added text and exported it as an alpha channel. I put it into after effects, where i finished with the text on the bottom.Hope you guys like it, feel free to comment on it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Bronston Keliipuleole (Name animation)
Untitled from Bronston Keliipuleole on Vimeo.
So this is my final draft for the name text assignment. I know the background and foreground is a little flat, and the yellow texts is a little funky. However, I was more or less trying to figure out exactly what I was doing so that I may improve more in the future.

So I really worked hard on this one, I had to spend around 6 hours researching before I even started the rest of this photo. I really wanted to capture a really warm scene with plant life and a digital scene being where the robot was running to. The only problem is that when I made it, I thought the digital end looked terrible. So I raised the digital city above a computer chip which looks like water, however, I really like the look of the water so I kept it the way it is. The concept for this is very much based off the movie astro boy as this giant city lifted off the ground seperates the perfect godlike world from the deserted land. The robot is just lost technology that is left to wonder the world.

I had fun sprucing up the stars for this project. When it got down to rendering global illumination, glow, caustic, and ambient occlusion in one pass, I basically twisted my knee. However the render turned out pretty well and I plan to develop it further later on. This is what I have so far from the toon render.
Bronston Keliipuleole_poster project1

In this poster, I changed the stars from white to yellow. I also changed the position of some of the text so the poster had a downward flow. To keep the effect of space, I kept the text the same and I also kept the text white because I felt it complimented the warmer yellow color. I took a little vignetting out from the bottom and added a gradient of yellow toward the 3rd line from the top (rule of thirds). Hope You guys like the poster!!
Gig Poster - Devin
Hey, so this is it. I had some trouble making the bubble letters round on top, but I think the point gets across. I also tried adding some background elements, like sunflowers, but I found it too distracting from the text. Is the comp too simple?
Devin.

Hey Guys,
I just found out about a pretty amazing event that it going to be on Thursday, August 5th. It's a local Portland User Group, and They are going to be meeting at Pop Art downtown from 5-7 on Thursday Evening. I thought if you were game, we could meet early, stay for most of it, then head back to school and go through the lesson.
Desc. of Event:
3DPDX (in association with AEPDX) is pleased to have Jeremy Collins, character animator at Disney Animation Studios, as presenter for our August meeting.
Jeremy Collins, has been working in the animation industry for just under 7 years. Currently a character animator at Walt Disney Feature Animation on the CG feature "Tangled", Jeremy has had his hand in animation for film, TV and video games over the course of his career. Some of his other credits include: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, I Am Legend, Beowulf, Open Season 2 and the recently released Alice in Wonderland, directed by Tim Burton.
Food and refreshment provided. Come early as seating is limited.
Loose agenda of the presentation:
* Background on Jeremy / where he's worked / what mediums he's worked in Difference between animating for TV/film/games.
* Run through Jeremy's demo reel and past projects. Process/workflow - Maya demo of different blocking methodologies. haring of sketchbook scans of personal drawings / things that inspire Jeremy.
